Every day, boys and young men in our communities are fighting silent battles—identity confusion, lack of purpose, fractured masculinity, school disengagement, and limited pathways to adulthood. Too many are navigating this critical transition alone. And the result is a growing national crisis that impacts families, schools, and entire communities.
A recent Inside Higher Ed report highlights a troubling reality: 58% of young adults ages 15–25—predominantly young men—say they do not feel a sense of meaning, direction, or purpose in life.The effects are severe: declining motivation, school and workplace disengagement, loneliness, and isolation—all of which significantly harm their mental health and emotional well-being.
At Men Impact Change (M.I.C.), we believe this crisis can be stopped—not with punishment or judgment, but with purpose, mentorship, and opportunity. Inspired by Frederick Douglass’ timeless truth that “it’s easier to build a boy than to repair a broken man,” we created the Young Men MentorPoint Breakfast Roundtables to meet young men exactly where they are and guide them toward who they are meant to become.
